With the ninth pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select…

Bills mafia get excited! Despite a 6-10 finish, Buffalo likes what they have in last year’s #7 overall pick, Josh Allen, and the defense finished second best in the league in terms of yard per game. Don’t sleep on the Bills man. Every expert’s mock draft I’ve seen lately has Buffalo taking an offensive lineman to help protect their franchise quarterback, but they just brought in SIX new offensive linemen in free agency?! Those names include center Mitch Morse, tackles Ty Nsekhe and LaAdrian Waddle, and guards Spencer Long, Quinton Spain, and Jon Feliciano. I get it, none of these guys is worth writing home to your mom about, but do you really think they are going to take another offensive lineman on top of all those dudes? No shot. Josh Allen needs weapons.

With all the moves Buffalo made to address the offensive line this offseason, the Bills didn’t stop there. They also signed running back Frank Gore, tight end Tyler Kroft and wide receivers John Brown, Cole Beasley and Andre Roberts. Depth, sure, but difference makers? Eh. There are two players I really like to the Bills at #9 should they decide to keep this pick. The first is Mississippi wide receiver D.K. Metcalf and the second is Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson. This feels a little early for Metcalf for me, and with the depth at receiver in this draft class, the Bills may be able to address the position in the second or third round. Hockenson, meanwhile, is being viewed as a top 10 pick. Not only does Hockenson step in and fill the void left by Charles Clay, (probably the worst tight end free agent signing in recent years), but he also helps pave the way in the run game for soon to be 36-year-old Frank Gore and soon to be 31-year-old LeSean McCoy, to gimp into the end zone. If I’m Sean McDermott, I want to get my young QB a nice security blanket in a reliable tight end who can do it all, similar to what I saw with Cam Newton and Greg Olsen while with the Panthers. I’m feeling better and better about this pick the more I think about it. Pencil it in now!
