With the thirty-first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select…
31. Los Angeles Rams: Garrett Bradbury C | North Carolina St.
Damn, Jared Goff and the Rams really shit the bed in the Super Bowl huh. Still feel like either a Saints-Patriots or Rams-Chiefs matchup would have made for better tv but it is what it is. Anyway, the Rams offense was firing on all cylinders last season under head coach Sean McVay and now everybody wants a piece of the action. The Cardinals went out and hired Kliff Kingsbury, the Packers hired Matt LaFleur and even the Bengals got in on the action hiring Zac Taylor. Anybody who has even made eye contact with Sean McVay is now being viewed as a potential head coaching candidate as other franchises look to try and capture the same lightning in a bottle general manger experienced with the hiring of McVay.
I’m sure Wade Phillips wouldn’t mind getting some love on defense. The front seven has some questions with the loss of Ndamukong Suh and Mark Barron, amongst others, in the offseason. The Rams did re-sign linebacker Dante Fowler but that was only to a one-year deal. They also brought in veteran Clay Matthews who will be 33 soon. Speaking of players getting up there in age, cornerback Aqib Talib is also 33 and veteran safety Eric Weddle (who was brought in to replace free agent Lamarcus Joyner) is 34. Los Angeles could may looking for a fusion of youth on that defense.
Offensively all the key pieces are back at quarterback, receiver and running back, though fans must be wondering what the hell is up with Todd Gurley. The offensive line took a beating in the offseason though with the departures of John Sullivan and Rodger Saffold in free agency. Meanwhile left tackle Andrew Whitworth is entering his 14th season in the league at the age of 37. Despite a middle of the pack, aging defense, if the Rams want to continue to run and gun, they’ll need some help along the o-line. Garrett Bradbury is probably the best interior offensive line prospect in this years draft and may not even make it to pick #31, but if he does the Rams should definitely scoop him up.
